ECIJAN CONVENTS ROUTE
 |
This trip is organized by the Town Hall Tourist Department and takes place on the first Sundays of December; it is aimed to know more deeply the different Ecijan convents, with their churches preserving a rich legacy of works of art. All this makes the route more attractive because they are less visited places by the tourists that come to our town.
The Route starts at 11 am from the Tourist Office at the Town Hall (España Square or “Plaza”); in a continuous way, the following convents are visited: old Convent of Capuchin Friars (XVIIth to XVIIIth century) where nowadays the Sisters of the Holy Cross are settled, Las Teresas Nunnery (XIVth to XXIst century), the Philippians’ Convent (XVIth to XVIIIth century), Las Marroquíes Nunnery (XVIth to XVIIIth century), the Florentines Convent (XVth to XVIIIth century), St. Agnes’ Convent (XVth to XXth century) and Dominic Friars Monastery (XVth to XVIIIth century).
Along the route visitors will be able to watch and enjoy impressing works of art from Mudejar, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassic architecture as well as admirable collections of altarpieces, paintings, sculptures and silverworks hoarded by the old coenobia. |
